Fix Pull Chain On Ceiling Fan Light

Replace the old switch with a new pull chain switch then place the end cap back onto the light fixture. Ceiling fan lights are an attractive way to lower your cooling bill. Remove the old switch. If your ceiling fan or the light on the fan doesn t work when the chain is pulled then the problem is most likely a broken fan pull chain switch.

Locate the wire connections from the pull chain switch to the unit. To fix and replace a bad on off light switch inside the ceiling fan. Over time the chain attached to the switch can jam keeping you from pulling it. Unscrew the screws where the light fixture attaches to the fan assembly.

Most of these fans are operated with pull switches to adjust the speed and light settings. The switch will also need to be replaced if the chain will not pull down or if it broke off inside the fan housing. Disconnect these wires and pull out the switch.
